1.Remembering Rachel was nearly sold out and we, her family, made the decision to republish the CD. It is so beautiful and the proceeds will continue to go to the college fund for Rachel's two children.
2. Mary and Karl and Lynne Goodson have created a house concert series, Occasional Concerts. We're in Central Vermont. Rachel's friends are performing for us as they pass through the area. To date we've had Freebo, Jim Photoglo,Johnsmith. David LaMotte, Stephanie Corby, Michelle and Scott Dalziel, The Dreamsicles, Storyhill...more to come!
3. We've created the White Light Fund in honor of Rachel. The fund will be used to provide development opportunities to singer-songwriters who are pursuing music as a career. We envision scholarships to NERFA or Folk Alliance conferences. Rachel was a mentor to many and the networking and learning about the business side of music is incredibly important. Dontations can be made to the fund by going to the "buy" section and being sure to include the White Light Fund in the memo section.

It's been just a year since Rembering Rachel: the songs of Rachel Bissex was announced at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Nearly all of the 2000 cds are gone and the college fund for Rachel's kids is being put to good use. Rachel's family is so grateful to all of you who have participated through your donations of music, time, and money. We hope you are enjoying the incredible tribute cd and that you'll continue to remember Rachel through her music.

For now, the tribute cd remains available through cdbaby.com, at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and various other locations.

Some of you have asked for assurance that money contributed will reach the kids and want to know who the cast of characters are. Valid questions.

kbmt is Karl Bissex, one of Rachel's brothers, and Mary Trerice, his wife. Mary is on the steering committee. All of this is passing in front of Stephen Goldberg, Rachel's husband and Vic gets reports on what has been collected. We are also keeping Emma and Matt informed so that they are comfortable that their interests are being protected.

We are using PayPal to enable use of credit cards. The money flows out of PayPal to the Rachel Bissex Scholarship account in the Merchant's Bank in Burlington, controlled by Karl and Jonas Goldberg (Steve's son).

I know it all works as it is supposed to because I bought the first pre-release CD, made the first donation, and watched the transactions being processed. I feel very comfortable working with Rachel's whole family. They are conservative solid people.
